Don't fold the edges, that's it. The cut edges of the material are already crumbling and fall apart after repeated washing. There is no pronounced nose or chin area, there is no wire and there is a huge gaping hole above my six year old's chin. The plastic part is not sewn between the fabric. It is simply sewn on and the teddy bear stays in. My child only wore it for 30 minutes but I can imagine some irritation with prolonged use.
