An optical input with two optical outputs works like a champ.
I ordered a different type of splitter to be able to connect an optical output cable from my TV to a signal splitter that would give me 2 optical outputs - one for my TV ears and - one for the Bose soundbar. Unfortunately, this product did not work properly. That's why I bought this device and it does its job perfectly without losing signal strength. However, you'll need to purchase an optical cable to connect the splitter to your TV, which isn't a problem.
