This cheese cutter is exactly the same as my mother used 30 years ago. I got so frustrated trying to get good slices with knives and could never get even slices. I finally remembered having this kind of slicer style as a kid that allowed me to get perfect slices every time. I ordered it immediately and am very happy with it so far. Lies well and firmly in the hand, nothing dangles and does not dangle. I didn't get the replacement cable I have from others but I'm fine with that as it isn't promised in the description. It was used tonight by my husband who has never used this type of device before and is already in love with it. The angle you hold the slicer at determines the thickness of the slice - it's the only difference from the one I grew up with where you could adjust the height of the wire.
