I really wanted to fall in love with this cot. Everything about it is perfect except what I read in the reviews before buying: a very strong smell of paint/chemistry. I bought natural wood thinking it would get rid of the paint smell but it's still there. After trying everything I could find, from sunbathing to rubbing with vinegar, applying essential oils to putting boxes of baking soda in and around them, I found that it was the pad on which the mattress is resting. that's a problem! I covered it with baking soda and newspaper. It was so frustrating that even after more than 3 months of airing/frequent use, my child's clothes still smell like this chemical every morning. I definitely wouldn't buy this crib until the company changes something about that wooden base!
