I haven't been able to start the software for an hour. The included software states that "the camera is either not connected or is being used by another program". The Celestron website says you need to disable your computer's built-in webcam, but even after removing my Logitech webcam from my PC and restarting it a few times, the software refuses to recognize the camera. Very frustrating. I was able to make some progress with the VLC player and verify that the hardware device is working. And it looks pretty; The stand is quite heavy but as others have said you have to use two hands to operate the focus/zoom wheel as it is very difficult to turn: one hand holds the scope and the other turns the wheel. Now I want another one buy a popular USB oscilloscope in this price range. I figured I'd pay a little more and get something better, but at least it's not working for me right now. I'll report back if I find something preventing the software from recognizing the camera. Sony Vegas actually does a pretty good job of handling the camera, including snaps and videos. camera can. I went from one star to two because the software that came with it doesn't recognize the camera, but the menu items are still visible. And judging by the menu items and what's available, the software seems almost useless anyway. All it does is image capture and video recording, which I do with the free VirtualDub (the only one that actually recognizes a Celestron USB microscope). It doesn't look like there's a software zoom slider; nothing I can easily see anyway. Something strange with the increase. It appears to be a focus wheel rather than a zoom. I'm not exactly sure what I'm seeing. I don't see this microscope zooming at all. It only focuses very close. I'll figure out how to upload a photo.
