I have a total of 10 Zmodo indoor and outdoor cameras. I thought this was the same as the internals I bought about 4 years ago. The ones I had had their design flaws but overall they were functional and I was happy with them. The biggest problem with them was that the cable connector came loose and the cameras lost constant power, causing them to turn on and off from time to time. I bought this new one to replace one that broke due to the connector falling off the plate in the camera. This newer model is fundamentally different from the previous ones. The only positive change they've made is to move the indicator light on the side of the camera. not be so bright. But that's not entirely positive either, as you can't tell if the blue light is on without turning it to the side. The bad change they made was they moved the connector to the back of the device instead of the bottom. The cable is now protruding straight out of the back of the device so you can't push it against the wall. The port is also deeper so the longer cables I had, standard micro USB, will not fit in the port. To add insult to injury, they shortened the cord to 5 feet, meaning you can't even put the camera on a shelf because the cord is too short to reach an outlet. The previous model had 6 foot cords and I ordered 10 foot cords to replace them so I don't have to use extension cords. that do not fit the new model. The camera as a whole is functional as a camera. Once set up, it works just as well as previous models. Software and firmware are identical. They just changed the physical design and it's beyond buggy. I had to swap cameras to place them in a location where the cable would not interfere with the setup. If one of my old cameras breaks again, I probably won't replace it with this model.
