I've never made candles before and this starter kit was a godsend. The kit contains everything you need to make 3 large glass candles (looks lovely) and 3 rose candles that I made for my bathroom. I even had enough wax to make three more rose candles. The kit comes with instructions that will walk you through all the steps. I liked the soy wax flakes, they are easy to use and melt away. The dye also worked well and melted evenly, although I had to reheat the wax and wait a bit for it to melt. I have used lavender essential oil in my candles, it smells wonderful. I was really surprised how easy it is to make candles and I don't want to go back to pre-made ones. This set is very fun and easy to use. I highly recommend it.
