Doesn't hurt to use.
I've always had good Ace combs. I recently bought a pack of cheap plastic combs and found them to be damaging to my scalp. I tried grinding my teeth with an emery board but it took too long. My only recommendation is that if Ace's crests were a lighter color, they would be visible when dropped on the ground; so i needed a replacement. They do get lost, but I've never had a single breakage or wear. I also find them very easy to clean with any soap and nail brush.
