I was very curious about these pens as I am a big fan of watercolor media. These pens will not disappoint you. They come in a variety of vibrant colors that can create beautiful combinations and gradients. These pens are very similar to the Akashiya Sai pens, however the Kuretake pens have much softer nibs and are a bit smaller, but I find they glide more smoothly across the paper. Since the brush tips are softer, it's a bit more difficult to apply paint directly to an acrylic block to use like regular watercolor and I find it best to apply and blend directly onto paper. They have slightly more colors than the Akashiya pens, which I like. The Kuretake set has a few more shades of pink and brown than the Akashiya pens. Most other colors are the same. Although I already have an Akashiya set I'm really glad I bought them as I really like their mixing skills. In fact, I prefer a softer brush and like to paint with it every day.
