Update - I was fooled too. At first I thought it was just very thin and brittle pieces of wood (which was also a problem) but now I see it's cardboard with stickers on the back of the pieces printed to make it look like wood. The board itself is made of pressed wood with printed stickers glued on. The printed sticker was easy for the child to tear off as it peeled off a bit when taking it out. When they made little pieces of wood shavings, they came up with it. I've included a closeup photo of one of the pieces so people can see that the pieces are actually made out of paper and cardboard. Original 2 star rating below - the parts are very thin. This was given to a child for their 6th birthday less than 2 days ago and many pieces are already having the paper label peeling off and/or breaking in half. He likes looking at the board, but the pieces are worthless and of course we're disappointed.
