One broke down after less than a month of use, that's to be expected from these but I'm pretty sure the microcontroller is communicating is defective with mainboard. The UEFI menu does not show that a GPU is connected, but the GPU was enabled. It's a bit disappointing that they used such cheap semiconductors because the semiconductor was never heated to high temperatures and all visible traces and solder joints look normal. There was a lot of flux on the board when it arrived so be sure to wash your hands after handling them and be sure to do so before eating. I'm sure everyone on Amazon will face the same pitfalls. It is generally less likely that at least part of the power supply will fail. For those of you interested in how they work, I think I know by looking at this. Basically it has a semiconductor that communicates with the GPU to then send data to the motherboard via a single PCIe lane. In addition, there is a power delivery system that mimics the power that the mobo would normally send to the GPU. The graphics card has different current paths. Although the PCI slots in the GPU can deliver the full power required, a mobo module is still required to power critical parts of the graphics card. Because of this, these riser cards require additional performance. I've found that for my specific cards (depending on make and model) I can expect around 25 watts from the connector to the motherboard. Watch out for products with fake reviews and check the bounce rate. This was the best I could find but be sure to check these things out as they may have changed since I bought them.
