A/B Testing is a way of testing different versions of a web page or website.
This has been my first experience with A/B testing and is proving quite valuable so far. With some quick thinking, and a little help from a colleague I was able to make a decision to split test my website copy based on how visitors got to the site (via search vs direct). It's been a good learning curve. As long as you're willing to get your hands dirty and have a little patience you'll find yourself rewarded. The speed of development has been excellent, with over 100 iterations already. On top of this, you can add multiple variables easily and with ease. I'd recommend checking out the videos available on YouTube if you want to get started. Overall I've found them very helpful and have learnt a lot about making my own decisions and not just blindly following directions.
- If you know anything about SQL, then you will be fine.
- Has a pretty cool visual interface.
- You can use it to make your own decisions without feeling pressured.
- This is a big con because if you're using it to generate recommendations, then you will probably need to create some sort of pivot table, where you would be selecting both variables
- Data quality issues, I haven't found any yet, but I will keep looking.
- I've noticed that most tools allow you to change the date format, currency etc
