This line is very thin and light and takes up very little space in my backpack. Although it is very thin, the outer layer allowed me to easily tie and untie any knot that I use regularly. That was more than enough to hold up the tarp in the rain and wind. There was no perceptible stretch when stretching wet clothing for 4 people across a 40 foot span, not even the Prussian knot used to apply initial tension that was held in place while the heavy wet clothing dried (and swayed/hopped) in the wind.
