Review on πŸ”Š Edifier R1700BTs Active Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers - High-quality Wireless Studio Monitor Speaker - 66w RMS with Subwoofer Line Out by Richard Counts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Advanced remote control and subwoofer output: WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THE EXTRA $10

This has been my THIRD R1700 set in the last two years, not by replacing broken sets but by replacing other speakers. They sound so good to me that I replaced two sets of professional studio monitors (iLoud Micro Monitors and an LP6 set) with them. I have a small home recording studio and while professional monitors do what they are supposed to do (near field monitoring) I constantly turn to other speaker sets for critical listening and return to the studio for corrections. When I first started using Edifier round trips were reduced by half or more. When these updated versions became available I used a pair for the Sub Out feature. Once I plugged it in, I immediately liked the USED remote (the previous version was terrible; first of all, I couldn't see the labels on the buttons). The remote is bigger, the buttons are bigger, the labels are legible, and best of all, it has a power switch (no more fumbling around the back of the speaker for a toggle switch or forgetting to turn it off). So I added an Elac SUB1010 to them and took the sound to the next level. After listening to these speakers with a subwoofer for at least 10 minutes and then turning the subwoofer off, you'll wonder how you thought that was enough. They are, but add a subwoofer and you have a small but powerful, full-featured shelving system. Another word for Elac, get one. I looked at sub-$200 subwoofer reviews and found that the Elac has the lowest frequency response, smallest footprint, and lowest price at $129 for the Revain. I can't say enough about the R1700BT, but last but not least they sound great, the updated remote and subwoofer cost an additional $10 (there's another version without these features) and they're low profile enough for music mixing and too create. Highly recommended after more than 2 years of use.
