The assembly of the desk was pretty straightforward and as expected.However, the hardware included with the unit was defective and cheap. My husband had barely snugged the fastener in when it broke. (Our hint should have been that they include the disclaimer in the instructions "do not overtighten as it will cause breakage.) We would expect the fasteners to be tightened until they were flush with the board, not sticking out. (Also, they only send the exact number of fasteners/screws you need for assembly -- no extra ones. At a half a penny a piece, one would expect you could include extras since breakage seems to be an issue.The desk is attractive, but not of high quality. Desk is of low quality pressed wood. The drawer bottoms were not cut to the right size. Would not allow the front and back pieces to be square as needed. Had to trim to size ourselves. We will see how it fares under use of a 13 year old for homework. Would not buy this again.
