Review on πŸ“ Mitutoyo 293 340 30 Micrometer Resolution: Detailed Specifications and Features by Ron Josey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You should have bought that first.

Don't know why I didn't buy this first. This greatly simplifies part control during production. Just zero your part size on the print and you can see if it's easier to meet your tolerance. This sped up my production a bit at work because it's easier to read than regular mics. Being able to read graduations on the mic still helps, rather than always trusting the readings, but if you need to read in tenths or millionths, reading is the only option. a huge plus. No more fear of scratches in blind measurements. My only minor complaint is the barrel's speed when changing dimensions, but if I wanted it to move faster I should have gotten a quantum version of that instead. That is not enough. I'm deducting one star because I'm new and that's how it was when I bought it. If you are not used to its size, it will take some time to get used to the longer length compared to a traditional microphone. I would still recommend it to anyone who needs a quality microphone. If you use microphones every day at work, they pay for themselves quickly.

Pros
  • Calibrated micrometer measures 0 to 1 inch (0 to 25 mm) with a resolution of 0.00005 inch (0.001 mm) and an accuracy of +/- 0.00005 inch for outside diameter measurements in harsh workshop conditions
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
