This pump seems to work fine. It turned out to be identical to the pump that was on the engine. The treated surface was smooth with no obvious markings. The cast was clean. There were two o-rings in the kit which I lubricated with silicon grease prior to installation. Everything got up normally, after installation it does not flow. I even painted it red before installing it to keep the Cummins color. The only problem I had was that it started squeaking after installing the sickle belt. The belt had only done 6,000 miles, I had to buy another new belt for $65 and put in a new tensioner to keep it from making noise. (no, I didn't get paint on the pulley when I painted the pump before installing it). I suspect that although the pump is advertised as new, the pulley itself was reused from the main pump. The pulley appears to be a bit worn, the 'spikes' on the pulley (between the grooves) are sharper than on the old pump. I hope that this will not cause me any problems in the future, the replacement process in my application is lengthy.
