Okay, a monitor is a dumb device. No additional software or monitor adapters are required to operate the monitor. However, when I connected my monitor with this adapter, I did not see the monitor's screen. Instead, I saw the "Lemorel" brand screen. The user is prompted to install the software product. After installation, the branded screen remained. I didn't like that the software was made in China. No offense to the Chinese. But I wasn't sure if the software didn't contain spyware. Result: didn't work. I uninstalled the software and bought another adapter from OfficeDepot.
