A $155 router for only $82. This router inside is exactly the same hardware, such as B. AC68U. This router works great for the average user whether they use T-Mobile Wi-Fi for calls or not. I've seen a lot of people spend a lot of money on routers only to find out they paid an extra $100 for features they can't use. Unless you have 10+ 5GHz devices, tri-band is irrelevant, and most Wi-Fi chips in laptops and phones don't have MU-MIMO and are 866Mbps at best. These ASUS AC1900 routers have a big one range, a dual-core processor, a better user interface than many other firmwares, and can handle more devices (I have over 30 wired and wireless devices on my home router). The stock T-Mobile firmware is a bit restrictive compared to the stock ASUS firmware and isn't updated as often. For the average user this is not a problem. For advanced users with higher requirements, there are ways to flash it to the AC68U firmware, but be warned that this is a lot more than just an update via the web interface utility.
