I installed 2 of these mirrors on built in tables in my spare bedrooms to reduce the burden of sharing a bathroom between 2 rooms. The light is ok but I installed a brighter LED bulb which helps but you still need another light nearby. Lord knows ladies can't put makeup on too easily. It articulates far enough (reach) and feels sturdy, but I made sure the switch boxes were solid since that's your base. I will be installing another one in my master bath as I am renovating it. In terms of cost, you'll spend the same or more for a portable lighted magnifying mirror - anywhere.
