I gave this to my 12 year old daughter who has been taking some after school art classes. Here's what they think: "This set is suitable for younger children but not for older children and adults. It gives you some watercolor, but not purple, pink, or light blue. Also, the brushes are too small. Sheets The watercolor paper that comes with it has an odd yellowish tinge that doesn't lend itself well to painting if you plan on leaving a blank spot, and you only get three sheets. I especially like the colors. They don't give you much material, but they provide all the colors you need to paint a picture or two. Overall, this set isn't bad, but it's not very good quality either. I definitely do not recommend this for a person over thirteen or someone who is really serious about watercolor and art in general. As a proud father, I can honestly say there is nothing to add. What a wonderful daughter! Okay, seriously, it's not *that* bad. I have to teach the girl the right attitude towards money. The asking price is pretty good for a set that includes a palette, some brushes, and some sheets of paper. At the end of the day, colors matter most and you get a good selection of tubes and cakes. If you want to try "real" watercolor painting, this is an improvement over the kits sold for school children.
