Review on Soldering Gun Tip with Weller RCT Technology for Effortless Rope Cutting by Johnathan Sherman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cheap, flimsy, does not fit pistol as listed on website

Extra thin wires on cutting edge, does not fit Weller D550PK as advertised, I had to bend the loose ends a bit and use pliers around the curves to shape. Weller soldering gun bores are twice the size of the cutting wire ends. The set screws almost bypass the wires and grab the wires on the side of the gun bushings. It's so thin that I'm afraid to bend it while using it. The blade is only 1/2" long and too small to cut 5/8" nylon cord. Get a rope cutting tool instead of buying one and a Weller soldering iron. Weller is now manufactured in Mexico by APEX Tool Group. It appears to have the same quality control as the original Weller MFG.

Pros
  • Model number: RCT
Cons
  • Expensive
