I bought these shoes mainly for my feet at the gym. I didn't feel very stable in my tennis shoes, and the few times I tried barefoot squats and deadlifts, my form improved. These pieces completely mimic the feel of bare feet and have excellent traction on every surface you encounter at the gym. My squat technique has improved dramatically and so has the weight I can repeat because I engage more muscles doing them barefoot. At first I only wore them to the gym 4-5 times a week, but over time I've been wearing them more and more: to the shops, to parks, around town. I spend most of my day in steel toe work boots, so the sooner I can be barefoot in these vibrams the better. Of course they are not cheap, but they fit really well. It's like wearing a sock that hugs everything and protects your feet from cuts. And they're holding up pretty well 6 months later with no peeling or cracking. I'm not a runner so I can't confirm how they run long distances. I tried riding a bike with them once and it was a very painful experience, I don't recommend trying. Wash those things too. Serious. They can really create a horrible stench from the sweat and all the dirt on the floor. I just toss them in a cold place with a mild detergent along with the towels and the stench goes away. I visited her twice a week.
