Not really waterproof. I used it in my long travel cooler but after a month water got into the unit and it stopped working. 95% of the time it was my top basket but sometimes it fell on the ice. It destroyed him. It is not designed for long term use in a fridge with a basket like the Yeti as it cannot be properly attached to the basket lest it fall into the ice/water below. You need to reconsider the mount. Part of the device to ensure it won't fall out of a typical cooling basket or to remove the 'waterproof' claim. I have since bought an analog thermometer with suction cups to prevent water immersion.
