Logitech's G HUB and Gaming Software are the two programs that allow you to use their hardware. The first one I had was because I'd previously used a G502 mouse, but he flat-out refused to look at the cans. Removed, installed G HUB, headphones picked up - the sound is very quiet. When "surround sound" is activated, the volume returns to normal, but the quality of the sound degrades significantly, making it unfit for use with music, film, or the standard sound color in games. After a few days of trying, I simply could not adjust to it. Only in competitive shooters is it acceptable, and only for the sake of step audibility. This is a lot like the "Scout Mode" on older Creative devices. Thus, I uninstalled the G HUB and re-downloaded the Gaming Software, and my ears perked up; now they function normally without my having to activate any miracle settings. While positioning does get worse during gameplay, the lack of a throbbing head in "surround" or "game" mode is well worth the sacrifice. The games' music has become once again listenable because of the restored harmony between UI components, music, and the environment (but still worse than in headphones for a thousand from the discrete Sound Blaster Z). It's better than many wired options for the same price (for a nice wire you need a strong sound system, it's built in here) if you exclusively play competitive games online. You can take it, but be prepared for a struggle with settings whether you're a music listener like myself or someone who plays singles in a place where you don't want to muffle the menu and other noises. In passing, I should mention that I purchased nearly brand-new ones from a person who did not go through the program for a fraction of the price, but the G HUB's sound did not appeal to him. The headset just needs a microphone for push-to-talk, not voice activation.
