Will not fit 2021 CX-5

I usually use OEM accessories for quality and possible resale, but in this case I was stupid that Mazda's improved pedal covers aren't already standard in higher end CX- 5 trims and even dumber That Mazda charges over $200 for their covers that require you to make semi-permanent modifications to your car. These pedal covers looked very similar to the Mazda covers in the photos, had decent reviews, and didn't require me to cut up the factory carpet or drill into the factory pedals, so I decided to give them a try. The optics are mostly good from the front, although you can definitely tell they're cheaply made from the side or the back. The rubber gasket from the brake cover had already come loose from the box and the metal on all three covers had rough edges. I can also confirm that they are indeed metal and not plastic like some of the other options on the web. The problem with these covers is that while the accelerator pedal cover fits snugly, the brake and dead pedal covers don't fit at all. After removing the factory rubber cover, you will find that the brake pedal has a crease. This replacement brake pedal cover does not allow for this flex, so the rubber pad on the sides cannot fit around the metal plate. The rubber bottom also doesn't have enough protrusion to grip the pedal and the size is a little oversized. No matter what I did to attach the brake pedal housing, I could easily rock it back and forth or even kick it off the pedal with my foot. Meanwhile, the dead pedal cover is not specific to the CX-5, but rather a universal cover that you can find in the listing for different cars. It is approximately 1/2-1 inch longer and wider so the bottom edge rests on the floor mat and the top right corner hangs slightly over the edge of the footstool. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I measured the protrusion just under 1/4 inch. The fastening tape is so flimsy that I don't see it lasting more than a year. I sent these pedals back and am planning to try something else.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties
