The autoscan is not very good, the software is quite intuitive, the alignment is quite good.

As a teacher having a document scanner like this was a life saver for me even with Covid. I can quickly and easily scan a chapter of a book. I already have one at home (CZUR) and as we are going down personally I have decided to buy a second one for my office. It would be a 4 star scanner if it warned you if the scan was bad or better during autoscan, but I prefer my slower but more accurate Czur for autoscanning books, although Czur isn't as good at smoothing the image . Pros: The software is on a USB stick, so you don't need a CD player. to install. The software is quite intuitive, however, if you open it without the camera connected, it won't appear in English. If you selected English during installation and a camera is connected, it will open in English. You can export individual pages as a PDF, this works well. OCR depends on image quality (see below). You can scan a book simply by turning the pages. It shows a countdown from 5 to 1 (takes about 2 seconds per page) and then says "Wait for the next page" (which actually means the software is waiting and you should turn the page). Comes with a large flat black mat that you will need for scanning. The smoothing option works well. Comes with small black fingertips to keep your fingers from keeping the page horizontal. I found the software did a pretty good job of ignoring my fingers even without them. The device has controls that make things easier than switching from a scanner to a mouse on your computer. Cons: Sometimes it crawls the page strangely. or blurry in auto mode, which means you have to check each page after scanning, and scroll backwards and then back again in auto scan. It doesn't warn you or ask you to rescan (my other software for my other scanner does). See photos for examples of good scans and bad scans. OCR can't read a bad scan. You can press the button to refocus, but that makes the steps more difficult. The management is really terrible. There are 2 USB hubs on the back which are not mentioned in the manual. I can't figure out what they are doing, I was hoping you could just do a direct scan to USB but that doesn't work.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • So far so good
