This is a nifty little hair accessory. I mostly use it after the shower to style my hair in place. YES, you can make them wider or narrower. It is great. Not suitable for long-term use. You will experience a slight headache if it is malformed. The spikes are very comfortable. The pressure builds up on the sides. I think it's well thought out overall
