UPDATE: I switched from L to XL after learning that the Marmot is a little different than normal. However, XL is almost identical to L, not much larger at all! Well, the jacket itself is great, but the sizing isn't. I will also be returning the XL size because when I buy an expensive coat I want to wear it for several years and not just 1.++++++++++++++++ +++++ +++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My son has just turned 11, he is a bit taller and thinner. Now he usually wears size M (10-12). He already wears some shirts in L (14-16), but obviously they are still too big. I bought this jacket in size L hoping it would last at least 4 more years. However, the size looks great on him now and I'm not sure if he'll be able to wear it in 4 years. However, it is clear that the jacket is of the highest quality. They even have a nice fleece material around the neck so it's warm and cozy.
