I switch between Windows 10, macOS and Linux computers about 10 times a day. This mechanical switching of this device works great - it's like physically disconnecting it from one computer and plugging it into another. I like the tactile and audible feedback of a mechanical switch, but the noise can disturb another person trying to sleep nearby. Since only one peripheral can be connected to this device, I connect the keyboard and mouse to a USB hub and then plug in the hub. to the switch. I think it's more convenient than having two switches as some reviewers suggest. I have been using the IOGear GUB201 and GUB401 electronic USB switches for over 10 years. They were often reluctant, so I had to hit the button two or more times to connect to another computer, probably because they were figuring out where to get power. As an electrical engineer, I hate to say this, but switching USB peripherals is the job of a mechanical switch.
