Has anyone noticed that HD, Lowes, Home Store, etc. patio furniture seat cushions are really bad (another word came to mind, but I wanted to leave a review)! ALL have thin, unsupportive pillows or whatever filling they have that just flattens out when you sit on them. I don't know what rubbish they put on those seats but unless you go to Fortunuf to buy some really expensive patio furniture you will drown! We bought two of these to replace the cushions for our outdoor wicker chairs that we have had for a number of years. The lower seat covers were zippered and 4 inches thick, so after reading the reviews I wanted to try them. First, we have a 12 x 16 screen on the porch so these chairs are never exposed to direct rain. That kind of "outside". I think if your seat covers were waterproof you would be fine. I weigh 235 pounds, my wife is much smaller but never tells me. our seat covers. First I marked the cutting lines along each edge of the pillow with a permanent marker. Then I used a standard cutting blade like you get from Home Depot, hammered along the lines and gradually cut through the foam. It took some time, the foam is thick. Have a fairly smooth edge. I've read that electric cutting knives are good for cutting foam, but I didn't have any. After cutting, I was able to fold the cushions in half, then insert/crimp and unfold them into the seat cover to insert the cushion. It was a bit tricky, but it worked out well in the end. I pasted in the uncut edge first so the front edge of the pillow looks good. So did it work? Yes! As my wife and I each sat on these cushions, TOTAL, support. So much so that I almost drowned! It was very sturdy and supportive and after using it all summer it remains supportive. We feel so high in the seats, almost too high, especially my wife.
