This is a really large set that will get you started with gel polishes. In terms of having everything you could need, it's a good place to start. The actual components were OK, and the price is great. So if you are looking for a starter set at a good price, this may be something that works well to get you started.The lamp is shaped like a paw and has reasonable functionality. Some cool settings are that you can change the intensity of the UV light and it will turn on and off when your hand is moved in and out of the device. It has an on/off button that is turned on/off by holding the button for a couple seconds. You can then press and toggle between the intensities. The other 3 buttons allow you to do set amounts of time (5s, 30s, 60s) and prevent it from turning on or off with your hand being in or out. The shape is good to allow your whole hand, including thumb, to fit in. It also has lights all around the device to get all the angles of the nail without you having to do any work. However, I found that a lot of light comes out of the back so you might get some extra UV exposure, due to the placement of some of the lights.The polish itself is alright. It definitely has that strong chemical smell (particularly the top and base coats). The colors are pigmented alright, but it needs 3 coats to really get a solid color. They have a bit of a patchy quality when painted, so they need more coats to get full coverage. The brushes are alright in terms of application, they do not give a ton of control and are pretty short. It comes with 2 choices for top coats (matte and glossy), which is handy. The colors are pretty neutral. Each coat needs about 60s under the lower intensity UV light to cure, so it was pretty typical for gel polish (eg, base coat then 60s under light, 1st coat color then 60s under light, 2nd coat color then 60s under light, 3rd coat color then 60s under light, top coat then 60s under light).In terms of the other tools, there are actually some pretty nice ones included in the set. I found the metal pusher designed for cuticles to really help with removal of the polish, and it's nice and sturdy. The files and clipper are always needed and reasonable for the set.Overall, this is a nice starter set for anyone who wants a one stop pick for gel polish manicures/pedicures.
