The first one I put on our vacuum cleaner started smoking as it rubbed against a piece of plastic, grinding it to nothing before the belt broke. I can see how he was supposed to be rubbing on that part, but I'm not sure why he didn't slide over it like he should, instead sanding it down. The second strap works perfectly. I installed both at the same time. The only thing I can think of is that the first strap had a different tension or was made of a slightly different material, but to be honest none of those ideas make much sense. But now it works.
