Bought this as an extra step for my cat to get to her scratching post. The platform is a bit narrow and while it can easily carry my thinner cat, I don't think it will carry my fatter cat very well. Other than that, my little cat loved it and used it all the time. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM is that it's a smooth piece of wood that most cats won't jump on. I had to attach a felt cloth to it so my cat would have something to hold on to and feel safe. She wouldn't use it until I added fabric. The fabric was only about $5 and I had a stapler lying around, but bear that in mind when purchasing.
