I am using this to broadcast the internet to my parents house and it works great! :P But seriously, I bought two of these, put one in my house and the other in my parents' house across the street. I won't go into the details of my technical setup, but essentially they work as if there is a physical cable running between our two houses. I choose the 2.4GHz band over 5.8GHz because it goes through multiple walls on both ends and 2.4GHz penetrates walls better. I didn't want to run any cables, maybe I'm just too lazy. But hey, this rig works great for going about 50 meters and climbing some walls. I quickly made a stand for each of them by cutting PVC pipe and drilling a 2x4 piece (see photo). Not the prettiest, but I suppose I might design it a bit in the future (wife hasn't complained yet so I probably won't :) The lights on the back are pretty bright so if you install one of them in his bedroom like me, you should tuck her in. I use a small piece of black foam (not shown in the picture) but you can use a piece of black tape or something else to block the light. These things seem VERY stable. I've had a few backend power outages and router resets and they just kept doing what they do best (keeping the wireless bridge between two houses working).

  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Hard to say
