The following comments apply after repair unless otherwise noted. The quality issue is that this set needs repairing for proper operation and durability. This design is manufactured by Silverline 380552, Pittsburgh 94011 and True Power 1111. Typical of this inexpensive set was that it came in sealed packaging and when opened it did not work and had to be repaired before use. See the end of this article for repair details. If you're not good at fixing tools, or you're uncomfortable fixing tools, you should probably consider something else. Also typical of this type of set is that the image on the web is misleading and fails to reveal that the ratchet is not fully chrome plated or even fully metal (the ratchet handle is black plastic). Pittsburgh 94011 and True Power 1111 descriptions have similar issues online. This set is more expensive than the domestic Pittsburgh 94011 and True Power 1111 sets, but there is a slight difference in quality. The fit of the parts in this set is better. The 1/2" drive has poor gear processing and is not round. The smoothness of the 1/2 drive ratchet changes with rotation. The bushing is difficult to remove with a 3/8" drive. The socket dangles on the 1/4 inch drive. Due to shipping costs, this set is more expensive than the corresponding Pittsburgh 94011 and True Power 1111 sets. Key Features to Look for When Choosing a Finger Ratchet, Wheel Ratchet, Speed Ratchet, or Palm Ratchet: Ratchet or Non-Ratchet. - Ratchet selection, number of teeth in the ratchet, force required to operate the ratchet, drive pin diameter, overall length, gear contour, gear texture, gear flexibility, whether dual drive is required, quick release capability, and resistance to car dirt. The assembly of the parts is important for the function and protection against dirt. Sharp edges are important for comfort and injury prevention. The materials used are important for quality and longevity. The processing is also important for quality and longevity. What is important is the ability to apply limited torque with the device. The effort that goes into installing and removing a socket is important for the utility value. It is important that the socket is held without hesitation (especially important with 1/4 square drive). The method of keeping an existing bit driver needs to be evaluated for usefulness. The durability of any markings on the ratchet should be evaluated. The accuracy of the description of the ratchet should be judged by what was received. Before using it, it is important to note whether the ratchet is ready for use or whether it needs to be repaired. The importance of applying these factors depends on the individual and the intended use. Key factors for the Silverline 380552 set are: Three piece ratchet set, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" square drive. ; Bevelled chrome metal knurled wheel on pin wheel; Easy insertion and removal of socket from socket pin Black oxide finish for 1/2 and 1/4 actuators Black plastic directional handle with ratchet and relatively smooth ratchet operation (after repair) Maximum diameter is approximately 1.5" (1.505-1.507) for all three drivers. Fingerwheel thickness is as follows: Fingerwheel thickness 1/4" - 0.440"; Gear thickness 3/8" - 0.611"; 1/2" wheel thickness is 0.639". Overall lengths are as follows: 1 /4" overall length - 0.998"; 3/8" overall length - 1.231"; overall length 1/2"-1.564". The number of teeth in the ratchet mechanisms is as follows: 1/4 inch drive Number of Teeth - 43 (8.4 degrees); 3/8" drive, 39 teeth (9.2 degrees); 1/2 inch screwdriver, 45 teeth (8 degrees). This set is made in China. Overall the fit is better than Pittsburgh and True Power. The overall quality of the parts is no better than the Pittsburgh 94011 and True Power 1111 kits. These palm ratchets are not as strong as all metal palm ratchets like 4137com's palm ratchets. These ratchets are not suitable for use in vehicles where solvents are present which could damage the ratchet's plastic handle. Please note that the Silverline 380552 set differs from the image on the website: the ratchets are not fully chrome-plated, only partially chrome-plated. coated and the handle is made of plastic. Purchasing the Silverline Kit 380552 assumes you already own or have access to sockets, adapters, extension cords, screwdriver bits and "spinners". Silverline 380552 is a heavy duty kit for applications that do not contain solvents that can damage plastic parts. The materials used in Silverline 380552 are not listed on the packaging. They are not stamped. Silverline Kit 380552 remanufactured ratchet is relatively smooth and requires little resistance to operate (Repaired). This unit can be used with a "spinner" like the Cal-Van 104-3 if you need to keep the drive stationary during the snap. 109 and corresponding adapters. Connect Silverline 380552 to the 1/4(f) square post of the Cal-Van 109 tool and place both tools in the same direction in the ratchet position, hold the Cal-Van 109 wheel with one hand and use the clamp pulls or releases the movement with the other (depending on adjustment) and the assembly snaps or releases any fastener, regardless of fastener resistance. Silverline 380552 Square Drives use the typical spring loaded ratchet drive ball to keep the socket in place. The force required to pull the socket out is below average for 1/4 and 1/2 drives and above average for 3/8 drives. A black plastic knob with a finger grip controls the direction of the ratchet. by rotation. There is no ratchet adjustment (no offset) on this device. The "R” and "L” arrows are cast into the ratchet knob. You will need adapters to use the 5/16 and 1/4 screwdrivers with the Silverline kit 380552. With my right hand and some discomfort, I can apply 20 in-lb of force with these ratchets when I have a Torque wrench 2955 from KD Tools used as a gauge. This is sufficient for most screwdriving applications. This is well below what is required for typical 3/8 socket applications. However, some applications such as carburetors require large heads but low torque. Another device is needed to provide enough torque for the car mounts. Whilst the Silverline kit 380552 will suffice for most screwdriver applications, another piece of equipment is required to provide sufficient torque, e.g. B. for Torex seat belt mounts. This device will likely be used to trim fasteners for final tightening with a torque wrench. If your application requires pressing on the Silverline 380552 set, for example to fit wood screws, this is possible, but other devices such as B. a drill with bit adapter are better suited for this type of application. If you want an inexpensive kit and understand that you will need to repair the kit before using it, I recommend purchasing the TruePower 1111 which offers higher quality parts and lower shipping cost. However, if there is a Harbor Freight Tools store near you and you can purchase the kit from the store, your kit will cost less than the TruePower 1111 with shipping. The kit was disassembled for repair (remove coil spring, pull out gear seat retainer, push plunger and ratchet direction knob remove remove pawl and pawl axle Burrs on coil spring have been removed Coil springs have been adjusted for proper fit Ratchet guide handle has been shortened Handle spring length has been trimmed for proper ratcheting operation (spring removed 1.5-3 turns) The length the butt of the handle has been ground to fit properly Grease on parts removed and parts cleaned with solvent Handle springs have been adjusted for proper ratchet operation.
