Bought to store my boots hoping I could hang my boots on one of the shelves so there are two tiers of hanging. The top stem adjusts to at least 39 inches off the ground (not counting the rollers), although this could probably be reduced by about an inch or so by leaving the top connectors on the black posts. I left the rollers during assembly. , as well as one of the shelves, and was also able to leave some of the horizontal shelf rods I used disabled as well, but chose to leave them all enabled for stability and so I had options for horizontally offset hanging. When assembled, however, it takes an effort to fit the bars into the slots and the plastic on the legs and sides of the shelves is a bit flimsy, but it holds my eleven pairs of shoes very well.
