I recently found myself in a situation where all 3 display outputs on my RTX 2080 card were full. I kept hearing that the new USB-C port on the back of the card was for single cable VR, so I ignored it. It turns out to be a multi-purpose USB-C port, and you can connect another display with an adapter. I bought it in the hope that it would help to connect another monitor. And so it is! My 2080 now has 4 display outputs and works fine. I've even used it to output to my Oculus Rift S for fun, and it connects to the native DP port just as seamlessly and functionally. I'm going to play around with the USB-C connector a bit and see what else I can customize considering it can also be used as a regular USB output.
