These are great for a base layer but only for a base layer. The collar is about two inches high and so loose and droopy that it just hangs around the base of my neck like weird, wrinkly crew neck. There is no sense of "turtleneck" on these shirts, not even "faux turtleneck," they're just bunched up crew necks. I'd never wear one of these out of the house without a turtleneck sweater to cover the sloppy neckline. Other than that, they're a good weight and very comfortable.
