Does the job very well.

I love using a miter saw, but the amount of sawdust it creates makes it a tedious cleaning process when I'm done cutting. This saw guard is like a big umbrella that wraps around the saw. It comes in a fairly flat large box with minimal instructions. It's not hard to figure out what to do, but there are some small production quality issues. Some joints require the surface to be filed, or in one case a dremel is used to sand down the protruding part that is interfering with the saw. After making these changes, the cover easily fits over the accessory mounts on the saw and opens to prevent sawdust from flying everywhere. There is a front cover on the hood which is not shown in any of the product images. It attaches with Velcro and prevents sawdust from entering from the front. However, some debris will fly out the side or bottom, so it's not 100%. I would say that 95% corresponds to the amount of sawdust left in the hood. After I finished the cut I just vacuumed the dust in the hood and that was it. Like all things that unfold for use, it is almost impossible to get it back to its original compact size after use. Therefore, when removed from the saw, it takes up some space until the next use. One disadvantage of a lens hood is that it reduces the amount of light around the saw, so you may need to use an additional light source to see what you're cutting. Luckily my saw has a laser so I can easily see the cutting line. Overall, this is a great addition to my workshop and I'm no longer afraid of a messy clean.
