This is a must have for a homeschooling family and any other family interested in science. It's easy to use for kids, photographing magnified objects for later comparison is great! I have 5 kids, my 7 and 9 year olds have been using it every day since Christmas. From looking at rocks and bugs to paper and dust. It really gave them something to look forward to during our school day. It's fairly portable, the only downside for us is having to plug in the extra marker lights (as far as we can tell anyway). Another thing to know is that it does not come with an AC outlet adapter. This is a USB port. For us it wasn't that important, but maybe for some. Also, you can explore large objects at the same time if you don't move the object. It is made to see the whole object perhaps in quarter size. Again, this isn't a deal breaker for me; Children simply move the object. But seeing a big butterfly right away is not possible. The zoom quality and ease of use when zooming in and viewing on screen is amazing.
