I knew nothing about parafoil kites as I always grew up with the typical diamond or delta kite with fiberglass poles. This kite is made of nylon material and does not use poles. You really need at least 10mph wind to get it flying, but it's easy if you hold onto it, allow the air holes to fill with air (takes 2 seconds), and release by slowly releasing the cord. I also suggest buying a reel for around $6, which makes kite flying a lot easier and more fun than the free reel/line holder that comes with it and untangling every entry level kite. The kite is easy enough for a three year old to fly. Comes with a carry bag that you can easily fold or slide your kite into.
