This was my first boomerang purchase so I don't really have a point of reference but I've had a great time with this item so far. One thing you need to know before you buy this is that boomerangs take a lot of practice to get them to come back to you. If you're looking for something to try for the first time and get it right back, then you should try Tetherball. It took me several hours to get the thing spinning properly, and even then it came back to me about half the time. I can easily see a young child getting very upset about this but if you spend some time watching some YouTube videos you will be very pleased. Another unexpected benefit is that you get some practice while using this thing. Of course, your hand will be trained when throwing. But you also have to walk under the boomerang for a long time to catch it. Or just run and get it if you throw it the wrong way and it doesn't come back to you. I've been using this thing for 30 minutes and I'm screwed from all the running around. If you don't like running, teach your dog to fetch. This saves you a lot of time.
