When I received this flea comb I compared it to one I have used for many years. First, it has a nice hard plastic handle, unlike the old one which had a nice chewed wooden handle. That can be good or bad. My cats didn't tell me this, but I interpreted their behavior to mean that they prefer an old comb, which they can express their dissatisfaction with by chewing the handle as a plus. From my point of view the plastic handle is probably a plus as I think it lasts longer. Next, I noticed that the teeth of this new comb are thinner and closer together. If your cat has a very coarse coat this can be a disadvantage, but I consider it an advantage. I've been using an old comb to brush my thick haired cat for quite some time. I have to admit my guilt for not following the flea treatment plan, so yes, my cat has fleas. I got a lot of fleas while brushing my cat this spring. Didn't get much today, just a few after quite a bit of brushing. Then I switched to NEW COMB. I immediately combed out a few more fleas. I attribute this to the dense arrangement of small teeth. I think this makes it better at catching smaller fleas. However, it stretches a little more through the fur. But the cat didn't care.
