The main problem with this docking station is its reliance on the low-power Surface Connect port. USB-C ports don't support reliable USB-C to HDMI or Displayport cables, which causes monitors to occasionally turn on. You must either connect a USB-C to HDMI cable directly to the Surface Laptop/Pro or purchase an active adapter that plugs into the docking station. Both scenarios defeat the purpose of the $200 docking station. The ports on the docking station suffer from the same unreliability, for example the Ethernet port reports that it is not connected to Windows. Speaking of ports, there's really no reason for 4 USB-C ports, just 2 USB-A ports and zero HDMI or Displayport ports. These types of connections were not terminated. They are still very popular. Just search Revain for the number of supported USB-C monitors to see what I mean. If you buy this dock, be prepared to buy a dongle or two as well. The Surface Dock 1 was by far the best docking station for the Surface line.
