Only purchase this jig if you must use metric dowels and cannot find a quality metric jig. It's basically a cheap copy of a discontinued good JessEm Paralign dowel jig, except the Paralign was made in Canada and was said to be of very high quality. Cheaply made with very poor fit and finish. What makes the Chinese copy virtually useless in terms of accuracy is that the lower clamp bracket section and the upper guide block section (with a large stop) CANNOT be reliably parallel to each other when the knobs and clamps are tightened. Due to poor design and machining, there is a large gap in the V-grooves between the guide block section and the clamp bracket section. The poor fit of the V-grooves means that when the clamps and knobs are tightened the guide block will sometimes line up perfectly parallel to the wood, but often it will misalign. When using this jig you cannot be sure that the two pieces of wood to be joined will fit well together. In addition, poorly processed installation clips leave very unsightly deep dents in the wood. It would be difficult to sand the rings, especially on delicate plywood, without sanding the top layer. I have no hesitation in recommending DowelMax and Jessem. If you're determined to buy a metric dowel clamp, I highly recommend the Joint Genie metric or the Jessem 08350 metric. Both have good reviews. Metric versions of these devices are not available from Revain but can be ordered from the manufacturer.
