Not Working - Computer Accessories & Peripherals

I connected this to my laptop (Macbook Pro 2017). I immediately get a popup saying it's not compatible with my computer. But the drive I connected to it was mounted and available on my desktop. I wasn't sure if the computer gave that warning when it was checking for drivers or something, but the attached drive was there. So I tried and tried to copy the disc. I have to mention. I edit and copy media for film and television. I move several terabytes of data per day. Each roll (drive) has tens of thousands of dollars worth of content. To say that a stable connection is necessary is an understatement. I started copying and already knew something was wrong. Estimated time was over 3 hours. I calculated that with my setup it takes about 28 minutes to copy a 700+ GB card. I was thinking of stopping the transfer because at that point I had to load a few rolls and didn't have time. Suddenly the hard drive just unmounted and disappeared from my desktop. NO. DONE. This thing is back. I gave 3 stars for the quality of the material as the case feels really solid and not cheap plastic. But I only gave it 3 stars because the power adapter is weirdly big (see picture). The power supply and power cord are twice the size of the hub itself. It was pretty awkward to include in my kit and I considered looking for a different power supply (when I thought I was leaving the hub). Seriously, this is a 15v 4 amp power supply. They could have found a more compact solution that doesn't come in two parts, especially for the $80 hub. That's why I gave 1 star for travel. This thing can come in handy for a person with the right computer who wants to connect different things. But for mission-critical applications, it's too slow and too many question marks. hard pass
