This is a great knife holder. I recently got a new chef's, utility and paring knife and wanted something that wouldn't damage the blades like my previous metal bar. Quality construction and I don't really notice any dead zones except for a small one where there are screw holes. The only possible ping I could give is for surebets. Although they fit snugly, it's almost too tight. I had to use a rubber mallet to straighten them out. For those complaining that the plugs don't perfectly match the grit of your holder, this really shouldn't be a problem. In order for this to happen, they need to ensure that any end cap cut from the wood used is also from the same piece. You also need to make sure that each person buying them is actually putting the appropriate grain plugs in correctly. This is a knife holder. I bought the 18" so I didn't have to use drywall anchors and I could just cut right into the studs 16" apart. I love it and it looks great too.
