Review on GE 29586GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone by Michelle Davis

I bought this stone in a specialty store. Now it's back in the box awaiting a return. I set it up according to the instructions but when I picked up the phone I encountered a big problem. I couldn't hear a beep, seriously! The line was dead! When I pressed the speaker power button, there was a confirmation beep, but nothing else. I tried another room thinking my phone jack was broken but NO. Same nonsense. I found the tech support hotline and learned that GE is not the manufacturer of this phone. (Can you believe it? I mean, come on!) but a brand called Thomson. However, it still has the GE logo on it! I called the number they gave me but all I got was a record asking me to call them back during their regular business hours. They didn't even tell me what time it was! Whatever I do in the next 60-70 years, I will never, ever, ever buy a GE product again. Can we just go back to the days of GOOD tech?
