After 18 years the shocks on my 2WD Silverado are finally dead. There are some shock options for this truck but I wanted the same ride and handling as mine. So I found the original build sheet for my truck and found that I have Z85 suspension. After checking the shock part numbers, I ordered front and rear shocks through Revain. I installed the shocks in my garage using a jack and stands. Since living in California I haven't had any rust or corrosion problems. The old shock absorbers were removed and the new ones installed without any problems. I followed the service manual and torqued the fasteners to the specified ft.lb. For front shocks it is best to tighten the two lower brackets with the axle raised and then lower the axle back down to tighten the upper bracket to specification. While you can remove the rear shocks without jacking up the truck, it is easier to raise the back of the truck to take the load off the rear springs and shocks so you can install new shocks without having to compress them. same or not at all. Alone and with great care, this work took about 2 hours. These dampers restored the factory ride, not too soft and not too hard, perfect for me. Highly recommended.
